
Multimedia Resources and Training Institute (MMRTI)

Multimedia Resources and Training Institute is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization serving immigrant communities around Seattle and its vicinity, founded in Seattle Washington in 2009 by a group of professionals, technologists, educators, parent s, and youth in the Greater Seattle area to prepare the underserved immigrant youth in the community for success in multimedia technology by providing effective technology-driven programs, education, multimedia training, and community-development services for historically under-represented and underserved children and families - especially East Africans living in King County and Puget Sound area. The primary beneficiaries of our programs are low-income households with limited-English proficiency.
MMRTI sponsors currently includes; the Seattle Housing Authority (SHA), the City of Seattle Technology and Neighborhood Matching Fund program; 4Culture, Seattle University (SU), Ethio Digital & IT Services (EDITS), Seattle Park & Recreation and etc. MMRTI was conceived in 2004 from a multimedia project at North Seattle Community College by a group of professionals and educators. Then by combining with Ethio Youth Media (MMRTI) TV program in 2006, it expanded its service to the larger immigrant youth community, reflecting activities and issues that affect young people most.
MMRTI is now continuing its programming at its main location at Yeler and provide services at North Seattle and Lake city locations. It also provides training and virtual services through social media outlets on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram sites to those who need support and training.
